Fifteen of UNLV’s 17 teams have at least a 2.8 cumulative GPA, a two-team improvement over a year ago, according to statistics released today.
Men’s basketball and football were the only sports to fall short, but nearly made the list. Basketball has a 2.76 GPA (2.71 in the fall semester) and football a 2.77 (2.67 in the fall).
A school-record 54 percent of athletes maintain at least a 3.0 GPA, and the cumulative GPA among all athletes is 3.01.
"It was an outstanding semester," athletic director Mike Hamrick said. "Our student-athletes continue to do great."
