REBELS TO PLAY AT WEST VIRGINIA

UNLV’s football team will play at Big East Conference power West Virginia in 2010 and will receive $740,000 in cash and $10,000 in tickets.

Rebels athletic director Mike Hamrick had adopted a scheduling philosophy of signing only home-and-home contracts, but the economic recession as well as the $1.1 million cut in state funding for the 2010-11 fiscal year prompted him to make the move.

UNLV will play the Mountaineers on Oct. 9, 2010. This will be the first meeting between the teams.

The Rebels were able to add a 13th game to the schedule because they are at Hawaii that year. The NCAA lets teams that travel to Honolulu to play an additional game to make up for the high travel expense.
