Rebels seek second straight win
After a three-game losing streak, UNLV fully expects to string together four straight wins to enter the Mountain West Conference tournament on a high note.
The second of those wins would have to come tonight at home against Texas Christian after a thrashing of Colorado State on Saturday.
The Rebels will be favored to win each of their remaining games. Tonight, UNLV comes in as a 14-point choice to beat the Horned Frogs.
TCU comes into the Thomas & Mack Center at 4-8 in the league and 12-15 overall.
It has won just twice on the road all season, but those two victories were in its last two road games. The wins did come against Mountain West bottom-feeders Wyoming and Air Force, but they still count.
Consistency
TCU is a remarkably mediocre team.
The Horned Frogs do not lead the league in a single statistic as a team. They also aren’t in last in any category.
Ronnie Moss does lead the league in minutes played and assists in conference play.
Where did they go?
Just a few weeks ago, the Rebels were flying high on the court.
It was leading to unbelievable success at the box office as the Thomas & Mack was filled to the rafters and very loud.
Tonight, they might as well be playing a regular season middle school game in this place.
Just three minutes before tipoff, the lower bowl is half full and the upper bowl may as well be closed.
There is also very little life in the few people that are in the building.
Las Vegas fans are very frustrating.
Injuries
As expected, Matt Shaw is in street clothes and will not play tonight.
He is sitting right next to Derrick Jasper, who is also in jeans once again.
Darris Santee will actually get the start at center tonight, not Brice Massamba.
Anthony Marshall once again gets the start on the wing, along with Tre’Von Willis and Chace Stanback.
Oscar Bellfield is at point, as usual.
