QB Clayton expected to play against Hawaii despite injuries

UNLV quarterback Omar Clayton’s MRI on his right knee shows he has a bruise and might have a low hamstring pull.

Coach Mike Sanford said this morning on the weekly Mountain West Conference teleconference that he expected Clayton to play in Saturday’s 8 p.m. football game against Hawaii at Sam Boyd Stadium. But Sanford said he wasn’t sure yet if Clayton would start.

If Clayton doesn’t start, the Rebels will go with Mike Clausen, who came off the bench Saturday to rally UNLV from a 20-7 fourth-quarter deficit to a 21-20 lead over Oregon State. The Beavers won 23-21 on a field goal with 7 seconds left.
