UNLV women’s golf team tied for seventh at Longhorn Invite

The UNLV women’s golf team shot 10-over 298 in the first round of the Longhorn Invitational on Sunday, standing tied for seventh in the 15-team event at Austin, Texas.

Alabama led with the only team score under par, at 4-under 284, with Arkansas second at even-par 288.

Dana Finkelstein led the Rebels, shooting even-par 72 to be tied for 11th and one shot ahead of teammate Demi Mak, who was tied for 19th. Tulsa’s Shu-Yin Liu led after a 68.

The event continues through Tuesday.

■ MEN’S SOCCER – UNLV lost to Denver 3-0 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at Johann Memorial Field. The game was scoreless at halftime, but Josh Wren scored three minutes into the second half, and the Pioneers made it 2-0 two minutes later on an Anees Abdulgasem goal.

The Rebels (6-12-1, 4-4 MPSF) had just one shot on goal, compared with seven for Denver.
