UNLV women golfers headed to Stanford for NCAA regional

The UNLV women’s golf team is headed to the NCAA West Regional at the Stanford Golf Course in the San Francisco Bay area on May 9-11.

The Rebels won the automatic bid by winning the Mountain West tourney last weekend, the Rebels first conference title since 2006. UNLV is led by sophomore Dana Finkelstein, the Mountain West golfer of the year, and Demi Mak and Mayko Chwen Wang, who earned second-team all-conference honors.

UNLV is the only team from the Mountain West among the 72 schools in the field. Sammi Stevens of New Mexico and Emma Henrikson, Paige Spiranac and Christine Wong of San Diego State were among the 18 individual golfers invited to the regionals.
Twenty-four teams and six individuals will advance to the national championships finals May 21-24 in Athens, Ga.
