UNLV roundup: Women’s soccer team dealt first home loss

Brooke Rittman scored her third goal of the season in the 11th minute, and Jennifer Hiddink had nine saves to lift Air Force to a 1-0 victory over UNLV in a Mountain West women’s soccer match Sunday at Johann Memorial Field.

Kristen Shimkus had an assist for the Falcons (6-4-1, 3-0-1), who won their third straight and dealt the Rebels (10-3, 2-2) their first loss in seven home matches.

Caitlyn Kreutz had seven shots, including four on goal, for UNLV, which held a 23-10 edge in shots.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

At Pacific Palisades, Calif., the doubles team of Aiwen Zhu and En-Pei Huang downed Georgia’s Annette Goulak and Vivian Wolff 8-7 in the consolation bracket of pre-qualifying in the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships.
