UNLV roundup: Volleyball swept by No. 20-ranked Rams

Freshman Breana Runnels had 11 kills and sophomore Katie Oleksak 40 assists to lead Colorado State to a 25-14, 25-18, 25-19 sweep over UNLV in a Mountain West volleyball match Thursday at Cox Pavilion.
Sophomore Paulina Hougaard-Jensen had 10 kills and four blocks for the 20th-ranked Rams (19-2, 9-0), who have won nine straight matches — eight by 3-0 scores.
Freshman Mariena Hayden had 13 kills and seven digs for the Rebels (7-15, 3-6), who had won three of their past four matches.
Amanda Young had 13 digs for Colorado State. Fellow sophomore Riley Jacobs had 22 assists for UNLV.
MEN’S TENNIS
At Provo, Utah, both of UNLV’s remaining entries in the main singles draw, Clayton Alenik and Eric Samuelsson, were eliminated in the round of 32 at the USTA/ITA Mountain Region Championships.
Alenik lost to Denver’s Sean Huynh, 6-2, 6-2, and Samuelsson was downed by Carlos Longh Neto of Idaho 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
In the round of 64 in the singles consolation bracket, Kevin Chau fell to Boise State’s Tim Heslin 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7). And, in the round of 32 doubles consolation bracket, Samuelsson and Ruben Alberts lost 8-6 to Washington State’s Hou-en Chen and Cezary Walkusz.
Members from 18 Western teams are facing off as individuals through Saturday each day in singles and doubles.
