Chris Shaw was named the UNLV women’s soccer coach. In his first season at Barton College in 2013, he guided the Division II school in Wilson, N.C., to a 14-5-1 mark, eclipsing its win total from the previous four seasons combined en route to earning Conference Carolinas coach of the year honors.
Shaw also has been the associate head coach at North Carolina State for four seasons and an assistant coach for Fresno State, one of the Rebels’ Mountain West rivals, for two seasons.
An All-American player at Methodist University, Shaw becomes the sixth women’s soccer coach in UNLV history. He replaces Michael Coll, who resigned in March after two seasons to become coach at UNC Greensboro.
The Rebels, who went 10-8-3 last season, will return seven starters from last year’s squad.
