UNLV men’s golf takes fourth at Jerry Pate Intercollegiate

The UNLV men’s golf team took fourth at the 12-team Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate on Tuesday in Vestavia Hills, Ala.
UNLV finished its second round in the weather-delayed event with an 8-over 288, then shot 10-over 290 in the final round for a 28-over 868 total. On a tight team leaderboard, the Rebels were 11 strokes behind winner and host Alabama.
Blake Biddle and Kevin Penner posted top-10 efforts for the 11th-ranked Rebels, with Biddle shooting 1-over 71 in each of his last two rounds to tie for fourth at 2-over 212, and Penner going 67-71 Tuesday to tie for sixth at 214. Alabama’s Justin Thomas won at 2-under 208.
■ WOMEN’S SOCCER – UNLV was ranked ninth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Pacific Regional, the highest ranking for the Rebels since earning the No. 8 spot in September 2008.
UNLV (10-3-2) has just one loss in its last 11 games, going 9-1-1.
