UNLV loses to San Diego State in men’s Mountain West tennis championships

The UNLV men’s tennis team’s season ended Thursday with a 4-2 loss to San Diego State in the first round of the Mountain West championships in Albuquerque, N.M.

The sixth-seeded Rebels (13-10) notched two wins in singles and one in doubles. At No. 3 singles, Jakob Amilon defeated Thorsten Bertsch 6-4, 6-3, and Ruben Alberts downed Jonas Meinzer 6-3, 7-6 (5) at No. 6.

In doubles, Alberts and Amilon teamed to down Bertsch and Meinzer 6-3 at No. 2.

The third-seeded Aztecs (18-7) pulled out two close wins. At No. 5 singles, Milen Ianakiev rallied to beat Alexandr Cozbinov 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, and Marko Goles-Babic and Santiago Cevallos defeated Denys Pume and Cozbinov at No. 3 doubles.
