UNLV baseball team whipped by UNR for sixth straight loss

Christian Stolo pitched six strong innings, and Ryan Howell tripled, homered and drove in four runs to lead UNR to a 12-1 rout over UNLV in a Mountain West baseball game Friday night in Reno.

Bryce Greager went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Jordan Devencenzi had a double, a single and three RBIs for the Wolf Pack (25-6, 11-3), whose 17 hits included 11 for extra bases. Seven UNR players had multiple hits.

Stolo held the Rebels (12-17, 2-12) to one run on two hits and five walks and struck out six in handing them their sixth straight loss.

Joey Armstrong had two of UNLV’s three hits and scored a run. Starter Joey Lauria gave up four runs on seven hits and three walks in 3 2/3 innings, and two of the Rebels’ three relievers allowed multiple runs.

UNR officials, volleyball players spar over transgender issue
