Three Rebels named to all-MW softball team

Three Rebels were named Tuesday to the all-Mountain West softball team, which is selected by the conference coaches.
Shortstop Garie Blando and outfielder Samantha Juarez were named to the all-conference first team for the second year in a row. Catcher Emily Haslinger was selected to the second team, the third straight year she earned all-conference honors.
Blando, a junior from Chino Hills, Calif., led the Rebels with a .389 batting average, 15 homers and 46 RBI. Juarez, a senior from Durango High, hit .360 with 7 homers, 29 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Haslinger, a junior from Lake Forest, Calif., batted .310 with nine homers and 31 RBI.
Lorena Bauer of San Diego State was the league’s player of the year. Trisha Ford of conference champion Fresno State was named coach of the year, and the Bulldogs’ Jill Compton and Paige Gumz were pitcher and defensive player of the year. San Diego State’s Jenavee Peres was freshman of the year.
