San Jose State rallies for baseball win over Rebels

Shane Timmons and Josh Nashed hit consecutive two-out RBI singles in the seventh inning to lift San Jose State to a 5-3 win over UNLV in a Mountain West baseball game Saturday in San Jose, California.
Nashed finished 4-for-4 and Timmons 3-for-4 as the Spartans (14-28, 6-17) held a 12-9 edge in hits.
Hilario Tovar (3-2) held the Rebels (18-24, 9-11) to three runs on six hits and one walk and struck out four in six innings.
UNLV took the lead in the third inning when Kyle Isbel hit a one-out triple and scored on a groundout.
San Jose State scored three runs on four consecutive hits and a sacrifice in the fifth to go up 3-1.
The Rebels tied the score in the sixth on Justin Jones’ RBI triple and Corey Pool’s run-scoring single.
UNLV starter Kenny Oakley (4-5) gave up five runs on 12 hits and one walk and struck out two in seven innings.
Payton Squier, who went 3-for-4 with a double, was the lone Rebel with multiple hits.
