Penner leads UNLV men’s golf to third in Ping/Golfweek event

The UNLV men’s golf team got a second-place individual finish and a third-place team finish at the Ping/Golfweek Preview Invitational, an event that featured 14 of the top 25 teams in the country in Alpharetta, Ga.

Kevin Penner shot par 70 in the final round Tuesday to finish at par 210 and in an eight-way tie for second, two strokes behind San Diego State’s Tom Berry.

The Rebels, ranked 13th, shot 6-over 286 for a 13-over 853 total, tying for third with Texas, eight shots behind co-champions Georgia Tech and California.
