Like most college sports in this era of the BCS and now playoff football, the national championship for men’s golf is more about generating fan interest than fretting over what might be the most demanding test for its participants. UNLV shortstop Garie Blando was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches All-West Region third team. She led the Rebels in most offensive categories, including games played (55), batting average (.389), runs (55), hits (70), doubles (16), home runs (15) and RBIs (46).
