Ohio State rallies for 6-5 baseball victory over UNLV

Troy Kuhn’s one-out RBI single in the ninth inning sent Ohio State to a 6-5 victory over UNLV in a nonconference baseball game Friday in Columbus, Ohio.

Troy Montgomery, who led off the bottom of the ninth with a double and scored the winning run, finished 3-for-4 with three runs, and Kuhn was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Buckeyes (23-7), who have won six straight and 10 of 11.

The Rebels (13-19) scored single runs in each of the first five innings and led 5-2 after five. Ohio State tied the score at 5 in the seventh on a two-run throwing error.

Edgar Montes went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Joey Armstrong and Morgan Stotts each had two hits for UNLV, which had a 12-8 edge in hits.

Junior Ben Wright made his first collegiate start for the Rebels and gave up three runs, two earned, on five hits and one walk and struck out four in five innings.
