Ninth-inning infield single lifts UNLV to 5-4 baseball victory

Austin Anderson’s infield single in the ninth inning scored Morgan Stotts with the winning run as the UNLV baseball team beat UC Riverside 5-4 on Tuesday at Wilson Stadium.
UNLV (20-23) scored four runs in the seventh to take a 4-2 lead, but the Highlanders (13-29) tied the game with two in the eighth.
Zack Hartman extinguished the rally and closed out the game for the Rebels to pick up the win. He allowed one hit and one walk in two innings while striking out four.
Stotts had three hits and scored twice. A.J. VanMeetren had two hits, including his first home run of the season, and drove in three runs for UNLV.
UNLV resumes conference play with a three-game series at San Diego State beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday.
