Local products rally UNR to baseball victory over Rebels

Bishop Gorman product Cole Krzmarzick had the third of three straight two-out RBI singles in the ninth inning that rallied UNR to a 7-5 victory over UNLV in a Mountain West baseball game Thursday at Wilson Stadium.

Jordan Pearce and Justin Hazard also had run-scoring hits in the pivotal ninth, and both — along with Krzmarzick — finished with two hits as the Wolf Pack (8-12, 2-4) overcame a 5-0 deficit after six innings.

Arbor View product Evan McMahan (6-0) pitched the final three innings for UNR, shutting out the Rebels (8-12, 3-4) on one hit and one walk while striking out three.

UNLV reliever Ben Wright (1-2) gave up four runs on five hits and two walks in the final 2 2/3 innings. Starter D.J. Myers shut out the Wolf Pack over the first six innings before giving up three runs in the seventh.

Payton Squier, who went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI, was the lone UNLV player with multiple hits.

UNR had an 11-9 edge in hits.
