Fresno State beats UNLV, 4-0, to cap baseball sweep

Garrett Mundell pitched six strong innings, and Taylor Ward homered for the third straight game to lift Fresno State to a 4-0 win over UNLV to cap a three-game Mountain West baseball sweep Sunday in Fresno, Calif.

Mundell (1-0) gave up three hits and three walks and struck out three. Three relievers completed the shutout for the Bulldogs (6-5, 3-3).

Ward homered in the fourth inning, his fifth of the season, and Joe Prior had an RBI single in the sixth. Two runs scored in the eighth on three Rebels errors.

UNLV starter Kenny Oakley (0-1) gave up two runs on five hits and three walks and struck out two in 5 1/3 innings.

The Rebels (6-5, 0-3) managed six hits, two by Joey Armstrong.
