Big fourth inning lifts Rebels to baseball win over Ohio State

Justin Jones, Andrew Yazdanbakhsh and Nick Rodriguez hit RBI doubles in UNLV’s five-run fourth inning as the Rebels downed Ohio State 5-2 in a nonconference baseball game Friday at Wilson Stadium.

D.J. Myers (1-0) held the Buckeyes (6-5-1) to two runs, one earned, on four hits and three walks and struck out eight in six innings as UNLV (6-6) won its fourth straight.

Payton Squier led off the Rebels’ fourth-inning rally with a single, extending his hitting streak to 10 games.

Ronnie Dawson homered, and Daulton Mosbarger and Nick Sergakis each had two hits for Ohio State, which held an 8-6 edge in hits but stranded 12 runners — nine in scoring position — in its third straight loss.
