AD search committee pares list

The search committee to find UNLV’s next athletic director met for about two hours Tuesday, but details of the meeting were mostly kept private.

Committee chairman Gerry Bomotti said the list was cut from the roughly 80 names of those who applied but wouldn’t say to how many.

"I think we’ve got a good core, a strong pool of candidates," Bomotti said, adding that the next step would be to gather more information on the candidates, which includes interviewing them, to further trim the list.

Another meeting is expected to take place in a week or less. Whether that meeting produces a list of finalists, Bomotti said, is difficult to say.

"Sometimes you get in a meeting and people say these are our two best or our six best people," Bomotti said. "It really depends on how it unfolds with the candidates from this point forward."
