Former offensive coordinator Snyder succumbs to cancer

Bruce Snyder, whose final college coaching job was in 2004 as UNLV’s offensive coordinator under John Robinson, died today after a battle with cancer. He was 69.

Snyder was most known as being the head coach at Utah State (1976 to 1982), California (1987 to 1991) and Arizona State (1992 to 2000). He was the Pacific-10 Conference Coach of the Year in 1990 at Cal and in 1996 at Arizona State, and also in ’96 received the Paul "Bear" Bryant Award for national Coach of the Year after going 11-1. His overall coaching record was 126-106-5.

In 2002, Snyder became a broadcaster of UNLV’s football games. He joined the staff the following season as the tight ends/H-backs coach, and rose to offensive coordinator in 2004 in Robinson’s final year with the Rebels.
