Defensive end Preston Brooks’ knee improving

The swelling in UNLV defensive end Preston Brooks’ left knee went down, and he wasn’t limping today, increasing the chance of his playing in Sept. 5 season football opener against Sacramento State at Sam Boyd Stadium.
Brooks was injured in Wednesday’s practice, and coach Mike Sanford said he should know for sure in "probably a couple of days."
“You’ve just got to see and make sure it doesn’t flare up back up,” Sanford said.
Also, offensive lineman Doug Zismann has fully recovered from a concussion and has received clearance to fully participate in practices.
Tailback C.J. Cox is day-to-day with a left hamstring injury.
