UNLV women’s golfer Dana Finkelstein qualifies for NCAA Championships

UNLV junior Dana Finkelstein tied for second Saturday in the NCAA women’s golf Central Regional at Stillwater, Okla., to qualify for the national championships.

Finkelstein shot par 72 in the final round and finished the 54-hole event at Karsten Creek Golf Course at 2-under 214, five strokes behind Wad Phaewchimplee of Kent State. Alabama’s Emma Talley tied with Finkelstein, who will play in the NCAA Championships from May 20-23 in Tulsa, Okla.

Finkelstein’s finish was the best by a UNLV golfer since Therese Koelbaek won the West Regional in 2008.

The Rebels finished 15th with a score of 53-over 917 (307-307-303). The top eight teams qualified for the NCAA Championships.

UCLA took first with a score of 11-over 875, followed by Alabama (892) and Mississippi State (893).
