The Icemen cometh to Wilson Stadium
March 19, 2014 - 4:13 pm
UNLV’s next baseball game is tonight, against North Dakota at Wilson Stadium.
I like the Rebels’ chances in this one. For starters, UNLV is pretty good in baseball. Plus, the last time the North Dakota team played a home game was May 18, 2013.
UND (2-9) is in the midst of a season-opening 15-game road trip. It’s too cold to play baseball in Grand Forks at this time of year. In fact, it’s almost too cold to play baseball in Grand Forks at any time of year.
This is probably why North Dakota is better known for its hockey team.
At the time of this writing it was 32 degrees in Grand Forks. Or what the people there call summer. On Tuesday, the high was 21; on Monday, it was 23; on Sunday, it was 16.
This is why UND embarks on long road trips during baseball season.
Last season, North Dakota’s first scheduled home game was April 19. It got snowed out. Same for the next four games.
Tonight’s game is set for 6:05 p.m., when it is expected to be 66 degrees in Las Vegas.
I’m not sure what color uniform the Rebels will be wearing.
North Dakota will be the ones not wearing shirts.
