When Las Vegas author and sports writer Rob Miech wrote to then MLB commissioner Bud Selig asking why more wasn’t being done to create awareness in ALS, he was surprised by the reaction. Miech, who father died from the disease in 2014 that also claimed the life of Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig, received two compassionate letters from the former baseball CEO.
