THE FINAL WEEK

I don’t know if I should cry or throw a party.

What I do know: Now just four games under .500, I am on the verge of one of sport’s great comebacks, from 14 games under .500 when picking Mountain West Conference basketball games against the spread to being better or even on the season.

From being a complete laughingstock to just your typical Vegas buffoon picking games.

So begins the last week of regular-season play, eight chances to chase that historic .500 mark.

Tonight’s game:

UTAH (plus 4.5) at NEW MEXICO: We are headed towards a three-way tie for first at 12-4, and nothing about the Utes as a road team suggests they can keep the Lobos from being part of that mix. Four of the last six meetings have reached overtime, but New Mexico has won six straight against Utah in Albuquerque.

My pick: New Mexico.
