Postcard from London: For a museum, it’s elementary

Yep. The address is right and everything.

The chap in the picture sort of lost his charm when he showed up for work minutes earlier after running across the street from enjoying a Baskin Robbins cone before changing into costume. But the Sherlock Holmes Museum at 221b Baker had more than its share of flair.

You see Sherlock’s chair and his violin and meet Dr. Watson who, for I all know, owns the Baskin Robbins across the street. The pipe. The pocket watch. The hat. The journal. The guns. The knives. The disguises of a detective. It’s all there in a first-floor study maintained for posterity as it would have been seen in Victorian times.

And what would any London museum be without a gift store that charges exorbitant prices for things you wouldn’t be caught dead wearing except for Halloween?
