It seems between all the practicing and icing of sore muscles and not consuming more than a few scraps of bread and some water, members of the U.S. women’s gymnastics team have run across a few athletes they admire.
"I’m from Dallas and saw Dirk Nowitzki this morning and almost had a heart attack," said Nastia Liukin. "That was the highlight of my trip so far."

Bridget Sloan was walking through the Athletes Village when members of Team USA happened to stop by for some face time.
"It was awesome," she said. "LeBron James is … (insert deep breath here) … so cool."
Alicia Sacramone might have a future in politics. When asked whom she would rather meet — Kobe Bryant or some Romanian hammer thrower — she actually paused and appeared to be giving it some thought.
"I’m going to go with Kobe," she said. "We saw him in the village (Wednesday) night but couldn’t get a picture. He left after five minutes."
He stayed that long? What an upset.
