Phelps the draw

Hundreds of media crammed into a conference room at the Main Press Center for 30 minutes Thursday with swimming star Michael Phelps and his coach, Bob Bowman.

I will have a large takeout column on this being Phelps final Olympics in the Sunday edition of the Review-Journal (July 29).

Many of the questions asked of Phelps dealt with U.S. teammate Ryan Lochte and the rivalry that has developed between the two.

The Games begin Saturday, when Phelps and Lochte take center stage against each other in the 400m individual medley.

“This is closure," Phelps said of facing the final competitive week of his career. "Now it’s just a matter of how many toppings I want on my sundae.”
