Jake Dalton impresses

Jake Dalton impressed in his first taste of the Olympics.

The gymnast from Sparks finished fourth overall in the floor exercise for a U.S. team that ranked first during men’s qualifying at Greenwich Arena in East London.

Dalton will compete for an individual medal in floor on Aug. 5, but first comes the team final Monday evening. It’s unknown whether he will be selected to perform by U.S. coaches.

Dalton’s 15.633 was a team-high on floor. He also competed in rings and vault Saturday.

I will have a column on Dalton’s journey here in the Review-Journal in the next few days as he and the Americans pursue gold.
