Hunter fights cold before Olympic opponent

Michael Hunter coughed. He sneezed. He took breaks from training.

The Las Vegan and heavyweight boxer wasn’t 100 percent at Team USA’s training session on Thursday at Score Gym in a neighboring town of Leyton, but never paused when asked if fighting a cold will hamper his chances at medaling in London.

“I’ll take care of business one fight at a time,” Hunter said. “I’m a fighter. I fight through everything. It’s how I got here — fighting through adversity.”

I will have a column on Hunter’s long and at times mistake-filled journey to this Olympic moment in the Aug. 1 editions of the Review-Journal. Hunter will fight for the first time in London that day.

The draw for the Olympics boxing tournament is Friday.
