Don’t look now …

But my overall record picking Mountain West Conference basketball games against the spread climbed to three under .500 on Tuesday night. All it took one one wacko coach (Steve Alford) beating another (Jim Boylen).

Tonight’s games:

BRIGHAM YOUNG (minus-7.5) at WYOMING: The Cowboys have not won five straight conference games since 2001-02, when they grabbed the league regular-season title outright. That’s a good enough source of motivation to think they can at least cover here.

My pick: Wyoming.

AIR FORCE (plus-18.5) at UNLV: We’d like to think this a good chance for the Falcons to gain some confidence on the floor where next week’s conference tournament will be staged, if only the Falcons had ever won a conference tournament game …

My pick: Air Force.

COLORADO STATE (plus-15) at SAN DIEGO STATE: With a regular-season finale against UNLV looming Saturday, which happens to be the team SDSU will likely open the conference tournament against, I would guess the odds of forward Billy White (knee) playing tonight for the Aztecs would equal those of a blizzard hitting Mission Beach in July.

My pick: SDSU.
