Chris Carter, Rich Thompson and Matt Morgan drove in two runs apiece Thursday night to help the Tucson Sidewinders to a 9-8 win over the 51s in a Pacific Coast League game in Tucson, Ariz.
Morgan and Thompson each had an RBI during the Sidewinders’ five-run fourth inning that gave Tucson (45-41) a 5-3 lead. Carter’s two-run double in the fifth put Las Vegas (38-49) in a 9-3 hole.
John Lindsey’s two-run homer highlighted the 51s’ four-run seventh. They pulled within 9-8 with a run in the eighth, but Ramon Martinez, who finished 2-for-3, grounded into a double play with the potential go-ahead run on base.
Wilkin Ruan went 3-for-3 with an RBI triple for the 51s, and Andy LaRoche and Ben Davis each had two hits.
