Seahawks’ Russell Wilson claims ‘Recovery Water’ healed his head injury

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson took a blindside hit to the head from Packers linebacker Clay Matthews in last season’s NFC Championship Game, but returned on the next series and led Seattle to an overtime win.

In the latest issue of Rolling Stone, Wilson credits his recovery to Reliant Recovery Water.

“I banged my head during the Packers game in the playoffs, and the next day I was fine,” Wilson said in the story. “It was the water.”

Wilson, who is an investor in the product (which costs $3 per bottle), also claimed in the story that the water miraculously healed an unnamed teammate’s knee injury.

Wilson’s agent, Mark Rodgers, wasn’t so sure. “Well, we’re not saying we have real medical proof,” he said.

But Wilson’s a believer.

“I know it works,” he said. “Soon you’re going to be able to order it straight from Amazon.”

Wilson was widely mocked online when the story broke Wednesday, but didn’t back down. In fact, he doubled down on his claims, tweeting “I believe Recovery Water helped prevent me from getting a concussion based on a bad hit. #NanoBubbles.”

Not to make light of head injuries, but it sounds like Wilson did have a concussion. Then again, didn’t Bobby Boucher (Adam Sandler) experience a similar miraculous recovery in “The Waterboy?”

If the healing water truly worked for Wilson — who might’ve just jumped the shark — he should share it with Robert Griffin III and Jordy Nelson. But they should beware of side effects, which include poor decision making in the final seconds of the Super Bowl.
