Turkeys, NFR livestock arrive next week

The week before Thanksgiving is more than getting ready to give thanks and eat too much.

Next week is when livestock for the 52nd annual National Finals Rodeo begins arriving on the UNLV campus for the Dec. 2-11 National Finals Rodeo.

It’s time to cowboy up.

The event is certain to extend its number of sold-out performances from 230 performances. Some tickets are available at UNLVtickets.com and at the Thomas & Mack Center but won’t last much longer.

Las Vegas Events, which promotes the NFR, offers two other ways that usually lead to getting into the rodeo.

At the Thomas & Mack and UNLVtickets.com you can purchase a $47 “Mad Dash 30” ticket that gets you into the rodeo and gives you 30 minutes to find an empty seat in the balcony. If one can’t be found within 30 minutes after the start of the rodeo you can either hang out on the T&M concourse to watch it on closed-circuit TV or get a refund.

Another way to attend is using the ticket-exchange booth at Cowboy Christmas when the western-culture sale and show is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 2-11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Fans put tickets they won’t be using on sale for $10 over face value if located on plaza level or $5 over face value if in the balcony. It’s a great deal and beats hassling with scalpers.
