Rebels sit ninth at women’s MW track championships

Three Rebels scored a total of 10 points Friday, but UNLV is ninth at the women’s Mountain West Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Laramie, Wyo.

Courtney Miller scored five points for the Rebels by finishing fourth in the hammer throw. Amber Sanford placed fifth in the long jump, and Laura Affeld took eighth in the 3000-meter steeplechase to combine for five points.

UNLV lost one of its best sprinters when Monay Meggs, a member of both relay teams, injured her hamstring during the 200-meter qualifying. Meggs had run the top time in the 400 qualifying, but struggled through the injury to an 11th-place finish in the 200.

The Rebels will have six runners competing in final rounds of six events today, the final day of competition.
