Pride showcased in Panthers’ win

Mikala Pride scored 12 points and was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to help Palo Verde earn a 45-40 victory over host Silverado in Saturday’s championship game of the Skyhawk Jamboree.

It was Palo Verde’s second win over Silverado in the tournament.

The Panthers went 6-for-6 from the line in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Sam Scott added 10 points for Palo Verde.

Silverado’s Jessica Schmidt led all scorers with 19 points.

Silverado 64, Western 50 — At Silverado, Mikayla Thielges had 18 points to lead three Skyhawks players in double figures.

Natalie Lainhart added 16 points, and Jessica Schmidt scored 15 for Silverado, which outscored the Warriors 37-16 in the second half.

Valley 52, Basic 51 — At Silverado, Nicholett Corona scored 17 points as the Vikings edged the Wolves.

Basic’s Michaela Thomas led all scorers with 18 points.

Eldorado 47, Arbor View 23 — At Silverado, the Sundevils jumped to a 22-6 lead after one quarter and rolled past the Aggies.

Princess Jervis led Eldorado with 14 points.

Palo Verde 63, Cimarron-Memorial 38 — At Silverado, Mikala Pride scored 22 as the Panthers beat the Spartans.

The Panthers led 25-12 at the half, then scored 29 third-quarter points to pull away.

Basic 33, Arbor View 27 — At Silverado, the Wolves held the Aggies to one first-quarter point and held on for the win.

Western 66, Eldorado 59 — At Western, Collanique Warner had 14 points to help the Warriors defeat the Sundevils.

Western outscored Eldorado 2-13 in the third quarter to pull away.

Palo Verde 43, Arbor View 23 — At Silverado, the Panthers outscored the Aggies 22-0 in the first quarter on the way to the easy win.

Nicole Ameli had 12 points to lead the Panthers.

Western 62, Basic 49 — At Silverado, the Warriors held on despite struggling from the free-throw line.

Western made 7 of 18 foul shots. Basic was 13-for-17 from the line.

Silverado 50, Valley 46– At Silverado, Natalie Lainhart had 16 points to help the Skyhawks edge the Vikings.

Mikayla Thielges scored 15 and Jessica Schmidt 11 for Silverado.

Nicholett Corona led Valley with 17 points.

Cimarron-Memorial 60, Valley 51 — At Silverado, Precious Carroll had a game-high 20 points to lead the Spartans over the Vikings.

Karyn Turner added 17 points, and Catherine Wyre scored 16 for Cimarron.

Valley’s Nicholett Corona led all scorers with 25 points, and sister Vanessa Corona scored 14.

Green Valley 59, Bonanza 50 — At Centennial Hills YMCA, Victoria Naylor scored 17 points to lead the Gators over the Bengals in the championship game of the LasVegasHoops.com Tip-Off Classic.

Naylor was named the tournament Most Valuable Player. Sarah Pickus added 16 points for the Gators.

Bonanza’s Laura Nelson scored 12, and teammate Jill Gentile had 11 points.

Legacy 52, Canyon Springs 46 — At Centennial Hills YMCA, Kindrea Poole scored 22 points to lead the Longhorns over the Pioneers for third place.

Green Valley 74, Legacy 32 — At Centennial Hills YMCA, Victoria Naylor, Jazmine Jarvis and Danielle Christenson each had 16 points to lead the Gators to the pool-play victory.

Poole paced the Longhorns with 11 points.

Bonanza 74, Canyon Springs 49 — At Centennial Hills YMCA, Tara Novak had 21 points as the Bengals routed the Pioneers in pool play.

Jill Gentile added 18 points for the Bengals.
