LAS VEGAS MAKES GOOD IMPRESSION ON TWO INTERNS
August 20, 2008 - 9:00 pm
I ran across a couple of student interns from Beijing working the Olympics. They had some pretty specific thoughts about Las Vegas.
Zheng Chen is a 20-year-old who is thinking about attending UNLV.
"I think about either Las Vegas or MIT," Zheng said.
I’m going to send Zheng a copy of the Princeton Review upon returning home.
"One of my classmates went (to UNLV) to learn something about gamble management," she said. "I would like to gamble first and then own hotel.
"But my friend said when you gamble at first, you win some money and then you lose it quickly. They say somebody controls all of that and everything there."
Yes. His name is Lon Kruger.
Xu Ke also lit up when informed what city I had traveled from.
"Las Vegas!" he said. "It is great place."
In what way?
"One dollar, touch butt!"
Xu’s boss was standing nearby when he offered that rousing assessment. By the look of her disapproving stare, there’s a good chance Xu has been reassigned to restroom attendant No. 5 in the Main Press Center.
