Here’s how you can watch the Rio Olympics opening ceremony

The Rio Olympics officially begin today with the opening ceremony while competition goes into full swing Saturday.

Although Rio de Janeiro is only one hour later than Eastern Time, the ceremony won’t be carried live locally as NBC has opted to air the ceremony in its entirety during primetime tonight.

Michael Phelps will carry the flag for the United States during the Parade of Nations. Phelps is participating in the ceremony for the first time in his five Olympic Games.

Who will light the Olympic cauldron is yet to be known. Earlier this week, Pele, a retired Brazilian soccer star, said he was invited to take part in lighting the cauldron, but today, stated that his health will keep him from attending the opening ceremony.

Here’s everything you need to know if you want to watch.

Time: 7:30 p.m. PT
