Nebraska gets one from UNLV, wins 5-3

Christian Cox went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs Sunday to lead the Nebraska baseball team past UNLV 5-3.

The Rebels (19-8), who won the first two games of the weekend series, led 3-1 after four innings before the Cornhuskers (15-12) scored once in the fifth and twice in the sixth, with the aid of two UNLV errors.

The game ended when Nebraska reliever Josh Roeder struck out No. 3 batter T.J. White on the 10th pitch of the at-bat with runners on second and third.

Matt McCallister went 3-for-4 with an RBI double for UNLV, and White, Patrick Armstrong, Joey Armstrng and Joey Swanner each had two of the Rebels’ 12 hits. Patrick Armstrong hit a solo home run in the third.

Bryan Bonnell (3-2) took the loss, giving up three earned runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. He did not issue a walk or record a strikeout.
