Muno’s heroics give 51s 12-inning win over Cubs

Danny Muno came through twice in key situations as the 51s earned a dramatic 5-4 win in 12 innings over the Iowa Cubs in a Pacific Coast League game at Cashman Field on Monday night.

Muno hit a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the 12th and give Las Vegas the victory. The game only made it to that point because of Muno’s two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the ninth that tied the game.

Those were the only at-bats of the game for Muno, who entered the contest to play third base in the top of the ninth.

Travis Taijeron, who also entered the game late as a pinch hitter, walked twice and scored two runs for Las Vegas (66-56).

The 51s trailed 2-0 in the eighth until Darrell Ceciliani singled in Taijeron and Kevin Plawecki with two outs to tie the game.

Iowa (67-54) got the lead back on a Mike Baxter triple that scored Javier Baez in the top of the ninth. The Cubs added an insurance run when Baxter scored on a sacrifice fly by Christian Villanueva.

Iowa had taken the first two games of the four-game set, which concludes today at 7:05 p.m.
