Kyle Busch wins again at Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas — Kyle Busch made it a Texas trio in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.

The Las Vegas native won his third straight Nationwide race in Texas with another dominating performance Saturday, leading a race-record 178 of 200 laps to win the O’Reilly 300 even though he insisted it wasn’t as easy as it looked.

“I was uncomfortable because of the handling of the car, just inconsistent at times,” Busch said. “My feet got hot. My body was fine, my back was OK, my head was fine.”

Busch finished 1.447 seconds ahead of Tony Stewart, who made a late charge from seventh with four new tires after a caution on lap 188. Brad Keselowski, forced to start 42nd in a backup car, was third.

The winning streak at Texas began with Busch sweeping both races last year, when he led 300 of 400 laps. This time, he became the first pole sitter to win any of the 17 Nationwide races at the 11/2-mile, high-banked track.

David Ragan finished fourth, followed by Paul Menard, Matt Kenseth, Mike Bliss and Jeff Burton. David Reutimann, on the pole for the Sprint Cup race today, was ninth.

INDYCAR — At St. Petersburg, Fla., Graham Rahal became the youngest pole winner in the history of the IndyCar Series, taking the top spot for the season-opening Honda Grand Prix.

Justin Wilson, Rahal’s former Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing teammate, added to the surprising front row, taking the outside pole for today’s race in his debut with Dale Coyne Racing.

Rahal, 20, supplanted Marco Andretti as the youngest driver to win a series pole on the same temporary street circuit where he won his IndyCar debut a year ago at 19, becoming the youngest driver to win a major open-wheel race.

FORMULA ONE — At Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Jenson Button took the pole position for today’s Malaysian Grand Prix.

Button, winner of last week’s season-opening Australian Grand Prix, set a time of 1 minute, 35.181 seconds to finish almost 0.1 seconds ahead of Toyota’s Jarno Trulli.

AMA SUPERCROSS — At Jacksonville, Fla., James Stewart raced to his 10th victory of the season, beating Chad Reed and cutting Reeds’ season points lead to five.
