Ash posts eighth victory

Dustin Ash closed in on the Super Late Models championship Saturday night with his eighth win of the season in the NASCAR All-American Series at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Ash, 19, passed Taylor Barton to take the lead for good on the 14th of 40 laps. Justin Johnson, who is second to Ash in points, placed third.
Ash’s lead over Johnson unofficially will be 32 points heading into Saturday night’s last points race of the season in the All-American series.
In other races, Tim Richter (IMCA Modifieds), Zach Zimmerly (Legends Cars) and Patrick O’Hanley (Bandolero Young Guns) posted their first wins this season, and Andre Prescott won for the third time in Bandolero Bandits.
Bear Rzesnowiecky had to skip the Bullring race for a Speed Truck Challenge event in Blythe, Calf. Nick Parmalee, second in points, cut into Rzesnowiecky’s points lead by finishing 10th overall in Legends at the Bullring.
• DRAG RACING — Scott Horlsey of Las Vegas defeated Howard DeVore of Flagstaff, Ariz., in the final round Saturday night at the LVMS dragstrip and unofficially won the Pro Division championship of the Jerry’s Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series. He needed to win the last event of the year to capture the season title.
Other event winners were Jim Naffziger (Super Pro), Scott Parsons (Sportsman), Kahea Woods (Motorcycle), Jon Irving (High School) Garrett Parsons (Jr. Dragster Lightning), Jacob Evans (Jr. Dragster Thunder) and Trey Vetter (Jr. Dragster Novice).
