UFC’s Francis Ngannou wants to knockout Alistair Overeem, earn title shot

UFC heavyweight Francis Ngannou will take on Alistair Overeem at UFC 218 in Detroit on Dec. 2.

Ngannou began 2017 finishing Andrei Arlovski and was expected to face Junior dos Santos in September before dos Santos was flagged by the United States Anti-Doping Agency for a potential doping violation and removed from the contest.

Now Ngannou, who trains in Las Vegas, will face Overeem. Both fighters involved in the contest believe a win will put them in line for a title shot.

The heavyweight bout will serve as the co-main event.
