UFC standout Jones arrested on suspicion of DUI after crashing car

Ultimate Fighting Championship star Jon Jones was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after crashing his 2012 Bentley into a utility pole in Binghamton, N.Y.

The arrest occurred just after 5 a.m. and was first reported by the gossip website TMZ.

The light heavyweight champion, slated to defend his belt against Dan Henderson at UFC 151 on Sept. 1 at Mandalay Bay, was released after his mother posted bail.

Jones, 24, reportedly suffered only minor injuries, but his $190,000 Bentley Continental GT was totaled.

Jones’ manager, Malki Kawa, confirmed the fighter’s arrest in a statement released Saturday.

“I can confirm that Jon Jones was arrested early this morning on suspicion of DUI,” the statement read. “While the facts of this situation are still being gathered and situated, First Round Management fully supports Jon, and we are asking for fans and media to respect the privacy of Jon and his family during this time.”
