St. Preux knocks out Rua on UFC card in Brazil

Ovince St. Preux knocked out former light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the first round of the main event of an Ultimate Fighting Championship card in Uberlandia, Brazil, on Saturday night.

St. Preux dropped Rua with a left hook as he retreated from Rua, who was charging forward.

He stood over Rua and landed a series of left hands until the referee called a stop to the fight 34 seconds into the first round. St. Preux had been on a five-fight winning streak before losing to Ryan Bader in August.

Rua has lost two consecutive fights and four of his past five.
