Silva returns from suspension to fight Bisping

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva will return to action to face Michael Bisping on Feb. 27 in London, Ultimate FIghting Championship president Dana White announced Wednesday on Twitter.

Silva last competed on Jan. 31 in a win over Nick Diaz that was later overturned to a no contest by the Nevada Athletic Commission when it was revealed SIlva had tested positive for steroids both on fight night and before the bout.

The 40-year-old Brazilian unsuccessfully argued the failed test was a result of a tainted sexual enhancement drug and was issued a one-year suspension that will expire on Jan. 31, 2016.

Bisping was a contender for nearly Silva’s entire reign as middleweight champion. Though Bisping often lobbied for a shot at the belt, the bout never materialized.

The event, which will not be televised in the United States, will stream live from O2 Arena exclusively on the organization’s online platform, Fight Pass.

Bisping had been scheduled to fight Gegard Mousasi on the card. Mousasi is expected to remain on the card, though no opponent has been named.
