Updated September 13, 2017 - 7:07 pm

Mike Perry didn’t have to wait long to get a new opponent for Saturday night’s UFC event in Pittsburgh.

Hours after welterweight Thiago Alves pulled out of from a scheduled UFC Fight Night 116 bout against Perry in Pittsburgh, Perry took to social media to announce he would be fighting newcomer Alex Reyes on the card.

“Respect to my new opponent steppin up on 3 days notice,” Perry wrote on Twitter. “Let’s see what you got Alex Reyes.”

UFC officials have not yet confirmed the bout.

No reason has been give for Alves’ withdrawal. The south Florida resident said last week he would not relocate the final week of his training camp to avoid Hurricane Irma.

Perry bounced back from his first career loss with a knockout of Jake Ellenberger in April. All 10 of his career wins have come by knockout, including three in the UFC.

UFC Fight Night 116, headlined by a middleweight bout between David Branch and former champion Luke Rockhold, will air on Fox Sports 1.
